Transfer Application Requirements

Minimum GPA:

Transfer applicants should usually present a cumulative grade point average of “B+” (or 3.33 average) or better.
Official Transcripts:

You must have an official transcript of all college-level coursework sent to Macalester. Request that your secondary school send Macalester an official final transcript of your classes and transcript grades beginning with 9th grade.
SAT Scores:

You must request that scores from either the Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT I) or the American College Test (ACT) be sent to Macalester College, unless test scores are included on your high school transcript.
Letters of Recommendation:

Complete the top portion of both Faculty Recommendation forms and ask two faculty members to complete. Fill in the top portion of this form and give it to the Dean of Students at your current or most recent college to complete.
Application Fee:

The application fee for transfer students is $40.
Interview:

Admissions interviews at Macalester are optional, but recommended if you visit campus.

Transfer Credit Policy

Minimum Grade:

Students who have completed courses with grades of “C–” or better in the natural sciences, social sciences, fine arts and humanities (in the case of community college students, a liberal arts program) will usually find that their credits transfer.
Credits (Min/Max):

Transfer candidates should note that 128 credits are required to graduate and not more than 64 transfer credits may be used to fulfill this requirement. All candidates for a degree must successfully complete at least 4 semesters at Macalester.
