A Lewis & Clark education isn’t like anything you could experience anywhere else. We’re a private institution with a public conscience, a residential campus with global reach. Students and faculty throughout all three of Lewis & Clark’s schools—the College of Arts and Sciences, the Graduate School of Education and Counseling, and the Law School—pursue new ways of knowing by combining classic liberal learning with pioneering collaboration.

There are no GPA or credit distribution requirements for admission, but transfer admission at Lewis & Clark is selective. We look for applicants who have demonstrated success in challenging courses across the traditional academic disciplines, including college-level math, lab science, foreign language, and writing intensive coursework. Most successful applicants have carried at least a B average (3.0) in their academic courses at their previous institution(s). In addition, we value the contributions applicants have made through co-curricular involvement, employment, community service, and life experience.
  • Official Transcripts:
Your official high school transcript including verification of graduation is required, as well as official college transcript(s) from each college or university attended.
  • SAT Scores:
You must provide a record of either SAT or ACT scores, unless you are applying under our Portfolio Path option or have verified with the transfer counselor that you will enter L&C with more than 60 transferable credits.
  • Letters of Recommendation:
The College Instructor’s Evaluation form or a letter of recommendation by a college professor (or TA) who has taught you in a full credit, traditional academic (non-performance) class. Portfolio Path applicants must submit 2 academic evaluations.
  • Application Fee:
The Common Application is free online. There is a nonrefundable $50 fee for paper application.
  • Interview:
Transfer applicants are encouraged to visit the campus and schedule an interview with a transfer counselor.
  • Associates Degree Required:
Do not assume that all of your completed credits will transfer to the College, even if you have earned an AA or other transfer degree.
  • Other Requirements:
The Common Application’s College Official’s Report form to be completed by your most recent institution. Be sure to completely fill out the course list section.
