  • Scholarships and Financial Aid:
    Truth is, we want to help students and their families make their KCAI education accessible however we can. In fact, 95 percent of our students receive some sort of financial assistance through scholarships, grants and loans.

Transfer Application Requirements

  • Official Transcripts:
    Request official transcripts, containing the official school seal, be mailed directly to the KCAI admissions office from each high school and/or college previously attended. A GED is a suitable substitute for a high school diploma.
  • SAT Scores:
    Transfer students who have completed less than 30 college credits must submit their standardized (SAT or ACT) test scores.
  • Letters of Recommendation:
    Request two letters of recommendation from teachers, a high school counselor or professional artist or employer.
  • Essay:
    Prepare a statement of purpose, a brief one-page or two-page essay providing insight into your goals, interests, educational and artistic background.
  • Application Fee:
    There is a non-refundable $35 application fee for applications postmarked or time-stamped prior to midnight eastern time May 1; the fee for applications postmarked or time-stamped after midnight May 1 is $50.
  • Other Requirements:
    Compile your portfolio for review. All applicants are required to have a portfolio review by an admissions counselor.

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    KCAI will consider transferring in any liberal arts or studio credits that meet KCAI's requirements, with a grade of "C" or better.
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    Transfer students may be admitted only up to and including the first semester junior level because they must complete a minimum of four full-time semesters at KCAI to qualify for the B.F.A. degree.
