  • Scholarships and Financial Aid:
    For the Pell Grant, Federal Work-Study, Federal direct loans, and other need-based aid, you should complete the FAFSA as soon as possible. The University annually awards a limited number of scholarships to community/junior college graduates.
  • Tuition and Fees:
    Undergraduate Tuition: $4,135/semester, $345/credit hour Part-Time and Overload. Fees: $87.50 mandatory, $500/semester non-resident. Housing and meal plan rates vary.

  • Technical/Vocation Credit Accepted:
    Students ordinarily receive no transfer credit for courses designed specifically for technical and vocational career programs. The dean of the college or school concerned should be consulted on questions pertaining to the transfer of credits.

Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    Applicants who do not initially meet the freshman entrance requirements must be in good standing from the last school attended and have a ā€œCā€ average in the following 30 semester hours of college-level work: Six (6) semester hours of English Composition, Three (3) semester hours of College Algebra or higher math, Six (6) semester hours of Natural Science courses, Nine (9) semester hours of Humanities and Fine Arts, Six (6) Semester hours of Social and Behavioral Sciences.
  • Official Transcripts:
    An official transcript from each college or university attended is required. An official high school transcript may be required of some applicants.
  • SAT Scores:
    Standardized test scores may be required of some applicants.
  • Associates Degree Required:
    Transfer applicants who have completed an applicable associate degree, a higher level degree, or the equivalent, are exempted from freshman admission requirements.
  • Other Requirements:
    You must be in good standing at the last college or university attended. We require documented proof for measles and rubella immunization compliance.

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    Jackson State University does not accept transfer courses with D or lower grades.
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    A maximum of 62 semester hours of credit may be transferred from a two-year institution, and 93 semester hours from a four-year. You must complete 30 credits at Jackson State to earn your bachelor's degree.
