    In accordance with federal regulations, the Office of Student Financial Aid will recalculate federal, state, and institutional student aid awards based on the enrollment status as of the published Census Date (Count Day) by the Office of the Registrar, which is typically the end of the 10th day of class for both Fall and Spring terms. (The Census Date for Summer enrollment will vary based on the length of the course(s) taken.)

Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    To transfer to Iowa State University, you are expected to have earned at least a "C" (2.00) average in all college-level courses attempted. However, some programs may require a transfer grade point average higher than the 2.00 minimum. Higher academic standards may be required of students who are not residents of Iowa, including international students.
  • Official Transcripts:
    If you have not completed 24 transferable semester (or 36 quarter)credits, you must submit a high school transcript. The submission of official transcripts from every previously attended postsecondary school is also required.
  • SAT Scores:
    The submission of official ACT/SAT scores is required if you have less than 24 transferable semester (or 36 quarter)credits.
  • Application Fee:
    There is a $40 non-refundable fee to apply.
  • Other Requirements:
    You must submit a statement of good standing from your prior institution.

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    In general, college-level courses in which passing grades have been earned are acceptable for transfer to the University; some departments may require at least a "C" grade for a specific course to be applied to the degree program.
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    The max credits or courses that may be transferred from a 2-year institution is 65. There is no limit from a 4-year. You must complete a minimum of 32 semester hours at Iowa State to earn a bachelor's degree.
