  • Scholarships and Financial Aid:
    Scholarships and financial aid are available for transfer students. Transfer Scholarships range from $7,500 to $12,000, and are based on prior academic performance.

Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    For students with 24 or more college credits at the time of application, we are looking for a 2.5 cumulative GPA at the college level. For students with fewer than 24 college credits at the time of application, high school GP A and standardized test scores will be weighed more heavily.
  • Official Transcripts:
    Official transcripts from all colleges previously attended are required. An official high school transcript or equivalent GED report is also required, regardless of credits attempted in college.
  • SAT Scores:
    If you have attempted fewer than 24 college credits, SAT and ACT scores are required.
  • Letters of Recommendation:
    Letters of Recommendation are required.
  • Essay:
    An essay/personal statement discussing why you are transferring and why you are choosing Iona is required. (250-500 words)
  • Application Fee:
    There is a $50 application fee.
  • Interview:
    An interview is recommended.
  • Associates Degree Required:
    All transferring students with an earned Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree from an accredited institution who have also earned a cumulative GPA of 2.5 will have satisfied the Liberal Arts Core.

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    Generally speaking, courses that are equivalent to courses offered here, with a grade of "C" or better, are considered transferable.
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    A max of 64 credits are accepted from 2-year institutions, and 90 from a combination of 2-year and 4-year institutions. Not all degrees have room for every transfer credit.
