Application Deadlines for Transfer

Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    Transfer students who have a previous GPA below 2.0 on a 4.0 scale will be admitted on a provisional basis; which restricts extracurricular activities and limits students to 13 credits in a semester.
  • Official Transcripts:
    IWU requires the submission of official transcripts from every postsecondary institution you have attended.
  • SAT Scores:
    If you have less that 12 semester hours of transferrable credit, you must apply as a freshman. Your credit will be considered for transfer.
  • Letters of Recommendation:
    IWU requires the submission of a Recommendation Form to be completed by an adult other than a family member.
  • Interview:
    Personal interviews are not required; however, appointments for interviews with an admissions counselor and/or a professor in a student's field of interest are encouraged.
  • Other Requirements:
    You are also required to submit a Community Values Contract and a Transfer Information Form (filled out by your previous institution's Dean of Students).

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    IWU will accept credits from courses that are college-level (usually 100 level or above) passed with a grade of "C" or higher.
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    Credits earned non-traditionally will be considered by individual assessment and accepted with various maximum limitations.
