Founded in 1875, Indiana University of Pennsylvania is a leading public, doctoral/research university strongly committed to undergraduate and graduate instruction, scholarship and public service. Our current enrollment which includes students in our Police Academy training program and our Culinary school, is 9,308 students. We have over 100 undergraduate majors in our five academic colleges.   • Scholarships and Financial Aid:
    We offer the PA All Academic Team scholarship for Phi Theta Kappa students who are picked by their schools. We offer IUP Transfer Scholarships for the Fall and Spring semester. The scholarships are based on GPA, the number of credits being transferred to IUP and financial need. Students need to have the FAFSA on file at IUP. Scholarship amounts range from $1,000-$2,000.   • Tuition and Fees:
    IUP uses a pay per credit model. $11,380 (based on 15 credits) for in state students for 2019-2020. Out of state tuition and fees is $19,084(also based on 15 credits).

    Military credit is accepted through the AARTS or SMART or JST transcript. NOCTI/SOAR credit is also reviewed for acceptance. Technical and vocational work is not accepted.

Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    2.0 for most students 3.0 for most education majors. Students with 36 credits or less must have a 2.75 GPA Art and Music Education students need a 2.5 GPA 3.0 for Speech Pathology majors. 2.5 for Exercise Science majors. 3.0 for Dietetics majors. 2.5 for Safety Science majors.

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    Grades of D will be accepted as long as a student has earned at least a 2.0 from that institution. Remedial credits and those considered to be technical in nature will not be transferred.
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    Students must earn half of their major credits at IUP or another state system school and at least 30 credits of the last 60 have to be taken at IUP.
