Illinois Institute of Technology is a national, technological, Ph.D.-granting research university, with world-renowned programs in engineering, architecture, the sciences, humanities, psychology, business, law, and design. Founded in 1940 and tracing its roots back to the 1890s with the foundings of Armour Institute of Technology and Lewis Institute, IIT brings a focused, interdisciplinary approach to education, including the Interprofessional Projects Program.   • Scholarships and Financial Aid:
    You may be wondering if you can afford such a great education. Perhaps the better question is whether you can afford to pass it up. IIT offers the financial aid and scholarship support to make sure that you don’t have to. At IIT, more than 97 percent of students receive some type of financial aid, whether it be need-based, merit-based, or both. There are also scholarship opportunities that can cover most of your college expenses.

Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    Suggested 3.0/4.0 G.P.A
  • Official Transcripts:
    Required from every college/university attended after high school.
  • SAT Scores:
    Not Required, unless student has completed less than 30 credit hours. IIT will then need high school transcripts and test scores along with completed college coursework.
  • Letters of Recommendation:
    One Letter of Recommendation required
  • Essay:
    One personal statement required
  • Other Requirements:
    Students admitted to the College of Architecture are required to submit a portfolio of their work for credit and placement purposes. Reviews are available only to deposited transfer students intending to enroll in the fall semester.

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    Transfer credit will be accepted for courses completed with the equivalent grade of "C" or better.
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    A maximum of 68 semester hours of transfer credit is permitted from a two-year college. There is no maximum number of hours of transfer credit permitted from a four-year college; however, your final 45 semester hours must be completed at IIT.
