Information for Transfer In Students

  • Accepts Transfers:
    Students transferring from other accredited institutions are welcome to apply for admission to Ilisagvik.
  • Degree Completion Programs:
    Credits earned more than ten years ago from another institution cannot be transferred to an Ilisagvik academic transcript without prior permission from the Registrar or Dean of Instruction and Workforce Development.
  • Credit For Life Experience:
    Ilisagvik College may grant credit for existing Ilisagvik courses based on prior learning experiences only through credit by examination. A maximum of twelve credits may be earned at the college through credit by examination.

Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    Students must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Official Transcripts:
    Any transcripts from any higher education institutions. Only transcripts from regionally accredited institutions declared at the time of admission are considered for transfer evaluation.
  • Other Requirements:
    Provide a copy of Alaska Native Shareholder-Native American Tribal Affiliation card, if qualified. Qualified students may be eligible for additional scholarship funds. In addition, copies of any financial aid documents from other schools attended.

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    Only transfer courses that have a grade of C or better will be considered at Ilisagvik College.
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    These credits do not count toward the residence requirement that at least 16 of the student’s final 30 semester credits must be earned at Ilisagvik College.
