Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    To be eligible, you must hold a high school diploma or General Education Diploma, have at least a 2.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale (note, however, that a GPA of 2.0 or higher does not automatically guarantee acceptance to the College), and you must be in good academic and social standing at the current or last institution attended.
  • Official Transcripts:
    Transfer students must have an official college transcript mailed to us from each college attended.
  • SAT Scores:
    Hartwick is an SAT-optional college. SAT and ACT scores are not required.
  • Letters of Recommendation:
    Letter(s) of recommendation are optional. You may submit recommendations if you feel it will enhance your application, but you are not required to do so.
  • Essay:
    The personal essay is optional. You may submit an essay if you feel it will enhance your application, but you are not required to do so.
  • Interview:
    Although recommended, an admissions interview is not required. We view the interview as an informational tool for both us and you.
  • Associates Degree Required:
    Hartwick College generally will honor the associate of arts or associate of science degree from accredited colleges by offering the equivalent of two years of credit.

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    Transfer credit from accredited colleges usually is given for courses substantially similar to those offered at Hartwick College, completed with a grade of C or higher.
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    A transfer student is required to attend Hartwick College for at least two academic years and to earn 60 credit hours to be eligible for a degree from Hartwick. Credit hours may be earned on a part-time or fulltime basis.
