Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    All high school graduates or the equivalent (students who have successfully completed the GED) are eligible for admission to the College.
  • Official Transcripts:
    High school and college transcripts from every institution attended are required.
  • SAT Scores:
    ACT scores are NOT required for applicants who have completed 12 or more semester hours of college level credit or for applicants who are age 24 or older at the time of application.
  • Application Fee:
    $25 nonrefundable application fee.
  • Other Requirements:
    To be placed in some programs in the College, the applicant may have to meet additional requirements as specified by that program and/ or the Illinois Public Community College Act.

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    In general, credit may be transferred for courses completed with a grade of D or better if the student's GPA is 2.0 or above at the previously attended institution. (Some programs may require a grade of C or better).

    Harper is a participant in the Illinois Articulation Initiative (IAI), a statewide articulation effort to help Illinois college students transfer easily. Harper also has Transfer Compact Agreements and transfer guides with numerous institutions.
  • Special Programs:
    The Academic Advising and Counseling Center provides services for students preparing to transfer to four year institutions.
