Gustavus Adolphus College is a church-related, residential liberal arts college firmly rooted in its Swedish and Lutheran heritage.   • Scholarships and Financial Aid:
    Because transfer applicants must first be admitted to Gustavus in order to receive a financial aid award, it is vital to complete an application file as soon as possible. Admitted transfer applicants will be automatically considered for Gustavus scholarships, including the Dean’s Scholarship, Gustavus Legacy Award, Paul R. Rucker Phi Theta Kappa Scholarships. We encourage transfer applicants to submit the FAFSA in order to be considered for need-based aid (grants, loans, and student employment).

Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    A recommended minimum cumulative GPA of 2.4 (on a 4.0 scale).
  • Official Transcripts:
    Final high school transcripts and college transcripts for each institution attended.
  • SAT Scores:
    Gustavus is proud to offer a test optional admission policy.
  • Essay:
    An essay or personal statement is required.
  • Application Fee:
    There is no application fee.
  • Interview:
    An interview is recommended.
  • Other Requirements:
    The Gustavus Transfer Report must be completed by your current Dean of Students and submitted before review of your application for admission.

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    Courses must be graded “C–” or higher.
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    A minimum of 136 semester hours or 204 quarter hours is required for graduation at Gustavus. Two years (17 courses minimum) are required in residence, including the senior year.
