We were founded in 1846. We’re a private, coed, residential liberal arts and sciences college in Grinnell, Iowa. Around 9,000 people live in our town. About 1,700 students attend the College. We call ourselves Grinnellians. We’re committed to contributing to the common good, and we’re consistently ranked among the nation’s best liberal arts colleges. We provide individually advised learning for the intellectually motivated. A place where freedom and academic rigor coexist and complement each other. And our curriculum has only one class that is required for all students. The rest is up to you.

    We meet 100% of your demonstrated financial need entirely through grants and student employment. Our financial aid packages don’t include loans, so our students can graduate with no debt. You still have the option of taking loans if you choose.
  • Tuition and Fees:
    The total estimated cost of attendance is $72,998 which includes tuition, activity fee, room, and board. The fall semester bill includes a charge for student health insurance.

Transfer Application Requirements

  • Official Transcripts:
    An official final secondary/high school transcript and official transcripts from each college or university attended are required.
  • SAT Scores:
    Standardized test scores are required.
  • Letters of Recommendation:
    Two written academic evaluations from current or former professors (If you’ve been out of high school for less than one year, you may submit one academic evaluation from a high school teacher.)
  • Essay:
    An essay or personal statement is required.
  • Interview:
    An interview is recommended of transfer applicants.
  • Other Requirements:
    A statement of good standing from all prior institutions is required.

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    The lowest grade earned for any course that may be transferred for credit is C.
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    A maximum of 62 credits may be accepted for transfer. You must complete 62 credits at Grinnell College to earn your bachelor's degree.
