    Financial aid consists of many types of assistance. The assistance you may be offered can be awarded by the federal or state government, Grand Valley, other agencies or a private donor. Grand Valley strongly encourages all students to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as this is the primary application for the majority of financial aid programs.

Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    A transfer applicant with a 2.5 cumulative GPA or above with a minimum of 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours who is eligible to re-enroll at the former institution will normally be admitted. A transfer applicant with a 2.5 cumulative GPA or above with FEWER than 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours must also submit high school records.
  • Official Transcripts:
    Official transcripts are required from each college attended (whether you earned credits or not). If you have completed fewer than 30 semester (or 45 quarter) hours of credit, your official high school transcript is also required.
  • SAT Scores:
    Students who have been out of high school for three or fewer years will also be required to submit an ACT or SAT score.
  • Essay:
    An essay or personal statement may be required for admission into some programs.
  • Application Fee:
    $30 non-refundable. Special circumstances may permit a waiver of the application fee. Contact Grand Valley’s Admissions Office for more information.
  • Other Requirements:
    A statement of good standing from prior institutions is required.

    D is the lowest grade earned for any course that may be transferred for credit.
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    You must complete a minimum of 30 credits at GVSU to earn a bachelor's degree.
