Georgia Highlands College serves Northwest Georgia and Northeast Alabama predominantly as a two-year, associate degree-granting institution and with limited bachelor degree options. Founded as Floyd Junior College in 1970, it now serves more than 4,700 students in the region. To maximize convenience, Georgia Highlands has expanded its offerings of online, DVD, & hybrid courses and now has five convent campus locations across Northwest Georgia located in Cartersville, Douglasville, Floyd, Marietta and Paulding. Additionally, the college maintains cooperative programs with regional technical colleges so that students can earn workforce-ready degrees.

Information for Transfer In Students

  • Accepts Transfers:
    Transfer students are accepted for fall, spring and summer semesters.
  • Degree Completion Programs:
    GHC now has two bachelor degrees, Nursing and Dental Hygiene. These programs are designed for the student who already has an associates in the field and is looking to gain a bachelors.

Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    There is no minimum GPA requirement but students must be eligible to return to their previous institution.
  • Official Transcripts:
    If you have less than 30 hours of transferable coursework, you must submit an official high school transcript. You must also submit official transcripts from every college attended whether you are seeking college credit or not for these courses.
  • SAT Scores:
    If you have fewer than 30 hours of transferable coursework, the submission of official SAT or ACT scores is required.
  • Application Fee:
    There is a $30 non-refundable application fee.
  • Other Requirements:
    A completed Certificate of Immunization is required.

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    All courses with D or F grades must be completed at Georgia Highlands College if they are required in the student’s degree program.
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    All students must meet the our residency requirement by completing 18 semester hours of GHC courses in general education regardless of transfer credits.
