• Scholarships and Financial Aid:
  To assist those admitted, the University makes every effort to meet the demonstrated financial need of eligible applicants through a combination of need-based aid programs which include grants, scholarships, student employment and student loans.

• Accepts Transfers:
  Yes, Georgetown University is a transfer-friendly school. GU receives approximately 1,900 transfer applications each year and offers admission to approximately 20% of those students, coming from community colleges and four-year institutions.

Transfer Application Requirements

• Minimum GPA:
  Typically, a cumulative B+ average or higher is recommended for consideration for admission. The average college GPA for an accepted transfer applicant is 3.7.
• Official Transcripts:
  Submit Official High school transcript and Official College transcript(s), including all work done through the current fall semester or the winter quarter
• SAT Scores:
  Submit SAT or ACT results. If, however, a transfer applicant has been out of high school for more than 5 years, the SAT/ACT requirement is waived.
• Letters of Recommendation:
  Submit recommendations from a current college dean and one professor, preferably from the major department.
• Essay:
  A completed Personal Data Form is required.
• Application Fee:
  There is a non-refundable application fee of $65.00.
• Interview:
  We are, unfortunately, not able to guarantee alumni interviews for transfer applicants.

Transfer Credit Policy

• Minimum Grade:
  Grades earned must be at least one level above minimum passing level, e.g. “C.” Passing grades on a Pass/Fail system are acceptable.
• Credits (Min/Max):
  The max transferable credits is 1/2 of the total required for the degree (60 credits). Students must spend a minimum of four full semesters and earn 60 credits in residency at Georgetown to earn a degree.
