FSU is an institution of the University System of Maryland, accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. It is the only four-year institution of USM west of the Baltimore-Washington corridor.

Frostburg offers a scholarship specifically for graduates of Maryland community colleges and Potomac State College of West Virginia. FSU Grants are awarded to students who demonstrate significant financial need on the FAFSA.

Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    If you have 24 credits or more that transfer to FSU, you can be accepted with a 2.0 cumulative GPA. If you have fewer than 24 credits, you need a 2.5 cumulative GPA to be accepted into FSU. If you’ve attended more than one institution, your cumulative GPA will be based on all institutions attended.
  • Official Transcripts:
    If you have fewer than 24 credits, you must provide an official high school transcript. Request an official transcript to be sent from each institution of higher education you have attended.
  • SAT Scores:
    If you have fewer than 24 credits, you must provide official SAT/ACT scores.
  • Application Fee:
    You can pay your one-time $45 application fee after completing the online application, by credit card or through electronic funds transfer online, or with a check or money order (make payable to Frostburg State University).

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Credits (Min/Max):
    You can transfer up to 70 credits from a community or junior college, or up to 90 credits if transferring from a four-year college or university. You must complete 30 credits at FSU to earn a bachelor's degree.
