Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University was founded as the State Normal College for Colored Students, and on October 3, 1887, it began classes with fifteen students and two instructors. Today, FAMU, as it has become affectionately known, is the premiere school among historically black colleges and universities. Prominently located on the highest hill in Florida’s capital city of Tallahassee, Florida A&M University remains the only historically black university in the eleven member State University System of Florida.

Transfer Application Requirements

Minimum GPA:

Minimum GPA - 2.0. Higher GPA requirements vary by program.
Official Transcripts:

High school transcripts are required if applying with less than 60 credits. College transcripts from every institution attended are required of all applicants. An applicant must also be in good academic standing at the last institution attended.
Application Fee:

$25 nonrefundable application fee.
Other Requirements:

All applicants who do not meet the foreign language requirement must complete two semesters (or equivalent) before graduation at FAMU. Additional requirements, including GPA and deadlines, vary by program.

Minimum Grade:

In general, credit may be granted for courses taken at regionally accredited institutions when a grade of at least a C has been earned.
