The AP Physics 1 course is designed to enable students to develop the ability to reason about physical phenomena using important science process skills such as explaining causal relationships, applying and justifying the use of mathematical routines, designing experiments, analyzing data and making connections across multiple topics within the course. Students will explore the following topics: kinematics; dynamics – Newton’s Laws; circular motion and universal law of gravitation; simple harmonic motion; impulse, linear momentum, and conservation of linear momentum; work, energy, and conservation of energy; rotational motion; electrostatics – electric charge and electric force; DC circuits – resistors only; and mechanical waves and sound.
