  • In this course students explore the impact of Mass Media on how we view, interpret, and evaluate our world. Students gain a basic understanding of the aesthetic, cultural, economic, and political forces that guide the creation and distribution of content via mass media. The course provides students with a clear understanding of the activities, roles, and issues related to mass media in today's society. Students explore how those issues have changed and will work to recognize and articulate the impact mass media have on diverse audiences. This course, in combination with COM 160, meets General Education Core Goal 11: Civic Responsibility.
