The information presented is an unofficial guide to how courses may transfer.   • 3 hours. Prerequisite: Exemption from or successful completion of READ 0099 and ENGL 0099. A survey of Western art from the early Renaissance to the present. The formal characteristics of the painting, sculpture, architecture, and some of the minor arts will be analyzed. An introduction to the basic knowledge necessary for the understanding and appreciation of the visual arts. A study of outstanding examples of painting, sculpture, and the related arts. Spring, odd years.

  • This course is a visual and historical survey of western art from the renaissance through modern times. The techniques, forms, and expressive content of painting, sculpture, and architecture will be studied within the context of the cultural environment which produced them.
