  • A general statistics course, which includes understanding data, measures of central tendency, measures of variation, binomial distributions, normal distributions, correlation and regression probability and sampling distributions, Central Limit Theoren, confidence intervals, estimates of population parameters and hypotheses testing. Interpretation and data analysis are emphasized. Prerequisite: MAT 100 (MA 1106) or MAT 120 (MA 1135) with a grade C or better, or by placement exam above MAT 100 (MA 1106) and placement above and successful completion of ENG 060 (EN 2103). Recommendation: Concurrent enrollment in ENG 075 (EN 2122) or ENG 085 (EN 2131) if CPT reading placement is between 68 and 75. General Education Electives: Math all programs Intensive Values: Computer Literacy; Written Communication Note: A TI - 83+ or 84+ graphing calculator is required.

  • Basic concepts and methods of statistical inference; organization and presentation of data, elementary probability, measures of central tendency and variation, tests of significance, sampling, simple linear regression and correlation. Stresses the role of statistics in interpreting research and the general application of the methods. Statistical microcomputer software is used. Not open to students who have received credit for STAT 3090 or MATH 3020. Includes Honors sections. Preq: Any MATH or STAT course, or a score of 620 or higher on the SAT Math section, or a score of 26 or higher on the ACT Math section, or a score of 65 or higher on the Clemson Mathematics Placement Test (CMPT). Coreq: STAT 2301.
