Includes general principles of chemistry, including atomic structure, mole concept, chemical reactions, stoichiometry, and gas laws. Designed for students in a health science curriculum leading to a Baccalaureate degree or liberal arts students who need a laboratory science elective. Credit for, or concurrent enrollment in MTH 95, or equivalent required.

Includes stoichiometry, gases, oxidation-reduction, acid-base concepts, equilibrium, physical and chemical properties of solutions, and nuclear chemistry. Prerequisite: CH 104.

For non-science majors. This course is designed for students whose major does not require the more mathematically intensive CHEM 1210 or CHEM 1220 courses. First of a two-semester sequence. Progression is made from the basic tenets of general chemistry through an introduction to organic chemistry, with topics being presented in order of practical importance and sophistication. Prerequisite/Restriction: MATH 1050 (prerequisite/corequisite) OR an Accuplacer score of 60 or better OR MATH ACT of 24 OR MATH SAT of 570 OR satisfactory completion (C or better) of the MATH 0995 as a prerequisite.
