Emphasis is on chemical arithmetic, chemical nomenclature, atomic theory and structure, periodic classification of elements, gas laws, valence, oxidation, reduction and equation writing. Possession of a hand held electronic calculator is required. Second semester (102-103) continues the first; acids, bases, ionization, equilibrium, and rates of reaction are also studied and applied.
