  • Level 2 of a 2 level course in academic English for English Language Learners (ELLs) at the advanced level who want to pursue academic studies in American colleges and universities or who want to practice their careers in the United States. This course will provide ELLs with intensive and extensive practice in reading, writing, listening, speaking and vocabulary in English at the advanced level and will introduce them to strategies for improving these skills. It will provide practice in descriptive and expository writing in English. This course will work on pragmatic conventions of face-to-face conversations in English. It will introduce students to conventions or research writing in American academic discourse. Prerequisite: ELI 103 OR Co-Enrolled in ELI 103 or Language Proficiency.
