    Academic scholarships are awarded to transfer students (not second degree candidates) during the admissions process. Awards are based on the student’s high school and college performance.

Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    Duquesne's minimum GPA requirement varies by department.
  • Official Transcripts:
    Duquesne requires the submission of all secondary and postsecondary school transcripts.
  • SAT Scores:
    SAT and/or ACT scores should be sent directly from the testing board or as part of your official high school transcript.
  • Letters of Recommendation:
    Duquesne requires one letter of recommendation from an academic source. A recommendation form is included in the application.
  • Essay:
    A 300 word minimum personal essay is required. Essays for Health Science transfer and Nursing Second Degree are also required.
  • Application Fee:
    There is a $50 nonrefundable application fee.
  • Interview:
    Interviews, in most cases, are not required, but are always recommended and welcomed. The School of Nursing does require interviews with their prospective transfer students.
  • Other Requirements:
    All transfer students must also complete the DU Transfer Form, which can be found on the Admission's page. An audition is required to be considered for the School of Music.

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    Students transferring from a regionally accredited institution must present academic records which show an overall average of C+ (2.5 on a 4.0 quality point system).
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    The College of Liberal Arts awards 60 semester hours of credit to accepted transfer applicants who have an associate’s degree in Arts from a regionally accredited two-year institution.
