Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    Most successful transfer applicants have achieved a GPA at or above the 3.0 (B) grade level during their previous college experience. The average GPA for admitted transfer students is 3.5.
  • Official Transcripts:
    Official high school transcripts should be sent to CU with the date of graduation. Official college transcripts must be sent to CU by the institutions attended. The transcript must include the courses in which the applicant is currently enrolled.
  • SAT Scores:
    Official results of the College Board’s SAT or the American College Testing (ACT) Program must be submitted to Colgate.
  • Letters of Recommendation:
    An Instructor Evaluation and College Official's Report are required with your application.
  • Essay:
    The two required essays should accompany the application.
  • Application Fee:
    There is a $60 non-refundable application fee.
  • Interview:
    Interviews are not required and are non-evaluative.
  • Other Requirements:
    Current Semester Grade Report on Colgate Supplement, College Official’s Report, and Instructor Evaluation are needed for admission consideration.

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    Colgate will consider awarding credit for actual college courses that fit within the scope of a liberal arts curriculum and in which students have earned a grade of "C" or higher.
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    The maximum number of course credits that are accepted for transfer credit is 16 (1 Colgate course credit = 4 semester credit hours). You must earn 16 course credits at Colgate to earn a bachelor's degree.
