Charleston Southern is located near historic Charleston and the beautiful beaches of the South Carolina coastline. We are one of SC’s largest accredited, independent universities, enrolling approximately 3,200 students.   • Scholarships and Financial Aid:
    Transfer students may be eligible for a CSU Student Success Award ** based on a cumulative GPA from the most recent college attended with the most earned credits. To receive award, students must submit an application and college transcripts.

Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    CSU has a minimum GPA requirement of 2.0 (on a 4.0 scale) for transfer credit.
  • Official Transcripts:
    Official high school transcripts and/or college transcripts from of all institutions attended must be received from these institutions. If you have fewer than 24 transferable hours, the submission of your official high school transcript is also required.
  • SAT Scores:
    SAT or ACT scores must be sent directly to the Enrollment Services Office from the respective testing agency. Only official copies from the testing services will be considered.
  • Letters of Recommendation:
    CSU does not publish a requirement for letters of recommendation.
  • Essay:
    CSU does not publish a requirement for the submission of an essay or personal statement.
  • Application Fee:
    Online applications will not require an application fee if submitted between September 1 and December 31. After December 31, a $20.00 application fee will be required for online applications. There is a $40 paper application fee.
  • Interview:
    We encourage all prospective students to visit the campus so you can see for yourself everything that CSU has to offer. A campus visit will allow you to tour the campus, spend some time with Campus Ambassadors and meet with your Enrollment Counselor.
  • Other Requirements:
    Confirmed English proficiency is required, if English is not your native language.

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    CSU does not publish a minimum grade requirement for transfer credit.
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    A student can transfer up to 68 credit hours from a 2-year school, 89 credit hours from a 4-year school. No more than 30 elective credit hours will be accepted.
