Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    Generally, transfer students who have completed at least 40 college-level transferable credits with at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA, and/or have earned a Washington State community college Direct Transfer Associates Degree will be admissible. If your GPA is between a 2.0 and a 2.49, your application will go through the Comprehensive Review Process.
  • Official Transcripts:
    Official college transcripts from all colleges attended. If you attended or are attending a Washington State community college, please request that your transcripts be sent electronically to CWU. An official high school transcript may be required.
  • SAT Scores:
    Official ACT, SAT or Compass scores may be required.
  • Essay:
    You will need to complete the essay portion of the application if your cumulative GPA is below 2.5 from any previous college attended and/or: your Admissions Index is below 28; your high school GPA is below 3.0; you are missing any core classes.
  • Application Fee:
    There is a $50 nonrefundable fee to apply.
  • Interview:
    An interview is required of some transfer applicants and they will be notified if needed for admission consideration.

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    The lowest grade earned for any course that may be transferred for credit is a D or higher.
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    Students may transfer up to 135 quarter credits to CWU, with a maximum of 105 credits from lower division (100-200 level) courses.
