Canisius College is a small private Jesuit College located in Buffalo, NY. We are on the border of Canada and 90 miles from Toronto, Ontario. There are roughly 3,500 undergraduate students and around 1,500 graduate students. We offer over 70 academic programs, including business, accounting, education, athletic training, digital media arts, biology, international relations, pre-med, pre-law and many more. We have first class housing options for all students, as well as tremendous internships and student teaching opportunities. We have 16 Division 1 sports and study abroad programs to over 15 countries.

  • Scholarships and Financial Aid:
    We offer transfer scholarships that range up to $12,000 (based on gpa). You will be notified of the amount of your award with the acceptance letter. Students may also be awarded $2,000 for Phi Theta Kappa and Alpha Beta Gamma (one or the other, not both).

Information for Transfer In Students

  • Accepts Transfers:
    We have rolling admissions for transfer students each fall and spring semester. We accept most credits from other schools and we offer scholarships for transfer students.
  • Transfer Applications Received:
    We will review applicants for admission upon receipt of an application and transcripts. A credit evaluation will be done 2 weeks after you have been accepted.
  • Transfer Applications Accepted:
    Most new accepted transfer students begin to register for Fall classes in May/June.

    We look for a gpa of 2.2 or higher. If the student has less than 24 credit hours earned, we would also need high school transcripts and SAT scores.

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    Classes transfer for grades of C or better
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    We accept a maximum of 60 credits from a two year school. Students transferring from four-year institutions must complete at least 30 credit hours at Canisius, including at least 18 in their major, in order to earn a bachelor's degree.
