    The total estimated cost of attendance is $77,718 which includes tuition, fees, housing, board, meals, books, supplied, and personal expenses. Fees do not include the $3,138 Caltech Student Health Insurance Plan.

    You are considered a prospective transfer applicant if you have completed your secondary education, have enrolled at a college or university other than Caltech, and have earned credit for courses.

Transfer Application Requirements

  • Official Transcripts:
    Official transcripts from all colleges/universities attended and official transcripts from your secondary school (grades 9-12, or the international curriculum equivalent) are required.
  • Letters of Recommendation:
    Two college faculty evaluations from math, science, or engineering professors: In addition to the two required teacher evaluations, you are welcome to submit one extra evaluation from a mentor or supervisor who knows you in a different context.
  • Essay:
    An essay or personal statement is required.
  • Application Fee:
    $75 application fee or fee waiver
