    Most of our award amounts are need based, and you will have to maintain good academic standing. We urge you to apply for financial aid for each upcoming year before the priority deadline of April 1.

Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    Minimum GPA requirements vary by school. Consult the Student Handbook or call Admissions for details.
  • Official Transcripts:
    Transfer applicants are required to submit official transcripts from each college attended (as well as from their high schools).
  • SAT Scores:
    If you took the SAT or ACT, it is highly recommended that you submit your scores to demonstrate college-level readiness in reading, writing and mathematics. SAT/ACT scores are required if you have earned less than 30 college credits.
  • Letters of Recommendation:
    The submission of an F-1 Transfer Student Recommendation Form is required.
  • Essay:
    The City College of New York does not publish a requirement for the submission of an essay or personal statement.
  • Application Fee:
    All applicants who are not currently enrolled at a CUNY college must pay a $70.00 non-refundable application-processing fee.
  • Interview:
    The City College of New York does not publish a requirement for a personal interview for admission consideration.
  • Other Requirements:
    Transfer programs such as the PA Program at the Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education and the CUNY BA/BS for Unique and Interdisciplinary Studies require a supplemental paper application.

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    In general, credit is given only for courses completed with a grade of ā€œCā€ or better in properly accredited programs. No credit will be granted for courses in which the low- est passing grade (usually ā€œDā€) was obtained.
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    You may transfer up to 90 credits. CUNY students with A.A., A.A.S. or A.S. degrees are entitled to a minimum of 60 credits.
