Augustana College is a selective, private college of the liberal arts and sciences located in Rock Island IL, on the Mississippi River in the Quad Cities (pop. 400,000). Augustana offers more than 90 majors and academic programs. Nearly 40% of our students double- or triple- major. With unique access to high-impact learning experiences (internships, research, study away, service learning, and so much more) our student customize their education. Augustana students can also follow their passions. We offer nearly 200 student groups, clubs and activities -1 in 4 are involved in music, and 1 in 3 in varsity athletics.   • Scholarships and Financial Aid:
    Merit scholarships for transfer students range from $13,000 to $20,000 each year, based on academic success. To qualify, you must have a grade-point average of 2.7 or higher, and 24 transferable credits. In addition PTK members will receive our $3500 PTK award.

Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    All applications are evaluated on the basis of probable success at Augustana, as indicated by grades, rank in high school class, and ACT or SAT scores, if applicable. Students with a college GPA above 2.5 have a significant advantage. Extracurricular activities, character, and motivation also are considered.
  • Official Transcripts:
    Final official high school transcripts, including a cumulative GPA and rank in class (if available), are required. Your official college transcripts from all institutions from which you have received college course credit are also required.
  • SAT Scores:
    Test scores (ACT/SAT) may be requested.
  • Letters of Recommendation:
    Submit two letters of recommendation from people who know you well and who recognize and appreciate your work ethic. (Not required)
  • Essay:
    A personal statement addressing why you wish to transfer to Augustana is required.
  • Application Fee:
    None
  • Interview:
    The admissions interview is highly recommended for all prospective students as it will provide an opportunity for you to discuss your curriculum and learning experience, while we learn about your passions and interests.

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    If a class you've taken is similar to a class at Augustana (and the grade is a "C" or better), those credits should transfer.
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    Minimum of 12 credits preferred, no maximum. Students transferring to Augustana College will need a minimum of 60 credits in coursework from Augustana College to earn the BA degree from Augustana College.
