  • Scholarships and Financial Aid:
    Apply for financial aid using the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form as early as possible! All incoming transfer students, planning to enroll full-time for Fall semester in a main campus undergraduate degree program, and who complete their application for admission by February 15, and the Transfer Student Scholarship Application by March 1 will receive priority consideration for transfer student scholarship opportunities.

    Estimated Undergraduate Costs: $15,555 in state; $31,162 out of state. This includes tuition and fees for 12+ credit hours, standard option meal plan, standard room and board, and most textbooks.

Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    Transfer applicants must have at least a 2.25 GPA in all attempted coursework.
  • Official Transcripts:
    Official college transcripts are required. An official high school transcript is required if you have fewer than 24 hours of transferable coursework.
  • SAT Scores:
    Official standardized test scores are required if you have fewer than 24 hours of transferable coursework. Military students with 3 years of active duty and anyone at least 23 years of age are not required to submit ACT/SAT scores.
  • Letters of Recommendation:
    Appalachian neither requires nor recommends letters of recommendation for admission.
  • Essay:
    An essay or personal statement may be required of some applicants.
  • Application Fee:
    $65 non-refundable. Appalachian accepts Official Application Fee Waivers from the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC).

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    Though all of your coursework will be used in the consideration of your application for admission, only courses with a grade of "C" or better will transfer to Appalachian.
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    You must complete 30 credits in residence at Appalachian State to earn your bachelor's degree.
