  • Scholarships and Financial Aid:
    In order to be considered for need-based financial aid, students must complete the FAFSA and CSS Profile. FAFSA code 001434 and CSS Profile code 5007 will be required when applying for aid. AU offers several scholarship opportunities for transfer students.
  • Tuition and Fees:
    Tuition: $25,271 Full-Time (12-17.5 credit hours); $26,955 Full-Time (18 credit hours). Summer sessions are charged on a credit hour basis. Undergraduate fees are $260 (Metro U-Pass TBD). Housing and meal plan rates are dependent.

Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    Competitive transfer applicants have a GPA of at least 2.5/4.0 at their current institution. Some AU academic units have specific minimum GPA requirements.
  • Official Transcripts:
    Official transcripts from all colleges or universities attended are required. High school transcripts are required only if you have less than 24 semester hours.
  • Letters of Recommendation:
    One letter of recommendation is optional for transfer students. You can select and assign at least one Academic Evaluator within the Common Application.
  • Essay:
    An essay or personal statement is required.
  • Application Fee:
    A nonrefundable $75 application fee or fee waiver is required of all applicants.
  • Other Requirements:
    All enrolling transfer students must submit the College Report. Please have a college official from your current or most recent institution complete the College Report as soon as you submit your enrollment deposit.

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    Courses eligible for transfer upon matriculation to AU must have a recorded grade of C or above. Courses with a grade of ā€œPā€ or Pass are eligible for transfer, providing that the grade of ā€œPā€ is the equivalent of a C or above.
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    Students may transfer a cumulative total of 60 credits with a max of 60 from an accredited postsecondary institution, a max of 30 from test credit, and a max of 30 of 30 Armed Services college level courses.
