    A maximum of 15 vocational/technical quarter credits (or 10 semester credits) may be awarded as elective credit only and are not included in the transfer GPA.
  • Credit For Life Experience:
    The UW Bothell does not award general credit for work or life experience. However, avenues exist for obtaining credit under selected circumstances. Once enrolled, students can speak with their program advisors for information about the process.

Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    GPA requirements vary by program. A minimum GPA of 2.0 is required for transfer to any program.
  • Official Transcripts:
    Official transcripts are required from all post-secondary institutions. In some cases, high school transcripts are required as well.
  • SAT Scores:
    Scores from SAT or ACT are required of transfer applicants who have fewer than 40 transferable college credits.
  • Letters of Recommendation:
    Some programs require letters of recommendation.
  • Essay:
    Personal statements should be limited to 650 words. The narrative should include personal goals and academic interests, and significant aspects of your personal and academic history. Certain programs have specific prompts.
  • Application Fee:
    There is a $60 application fee and it is nonrefundable.
  • Interview:
    Interviews are not required; however, students are encouraged to contact or meet with an admissions advisor to determine program-readiness before applying.
  • Other Requirements:
    Students are required to complete Intermediate Algebra, World Language, and English Proficiency (when applicable) before they are admitted to the university. These requirements can be met in high school or through college coursework.

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    The minimum grade for a course to transfer is a grade in which credit is granted. If the student earned credit with a grade of 0.7, those credits are transferable.
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    We allow a max of 90 credits of lower-division transfer coursework to be applied toward a UW degree. Of the 180 credits required for graduation (some majors require more), a max of 90 lower-division transfer credits are allowed.
