Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
There are a few things we like to see first and foremost when we evaluate transfer applications: - A Competitive GPA: around a 3.0 (B average) or better is our usual expectation. - A 3.3 GPA or higher is considered competitive for merit scholarships - Challenging Coursework: We like to know that you've taken your time in college seriously. A DU education is rigorous, and we want to know that you're ready to take on the challenge. - Special Circumstances: We'd like to hear about any mitigating circumstances that might have affected your academic resume. We'll take these into account when evaluating your application.
  • Official Transcripts:
Submit official transcripts from all college-level study attempted at all institutions. If you have completed less than one year of college study (30 semester/45 quarter hours), you must also submit an official high school transcript.
  • SAT Scores:
If you have completed less than one year of college study (30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours), we encourage you to submit SAT and/or ACT test scores. The University of Denver is test-optional. Learn more at: https://www.du.edu/test-optional
  • Letters of Recommendation:
A teacher, professor, advisor, or employer recommendation is optional.
  • Application Fee:
Pay a $65 non-refundable application fee (check, money order or on-line payments accepted).
  • Associates Degree Required:
An associate's degree does not transfer as a complete whole; we will evaluate each course individually.
  • Other Requirements:
A music audition is required for Music majors. The Daniels College of Business requires a secondary application to pursue a Business major. Students transferring to DU from other institutions must work directly with the Office of Admission.
